Williams holds a bachelor of science degree (BS) and a master of science degree (MS) from the University of West Alabama.

As a player, Williams was named 2006 Old Spice Player of the Year and named a Harlon Hill Finalist in 2009 and 2010, an award given to the most valuable player in NCAA Division II college football. He was also, drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 2006 MLB Draft. Recently, he was inducted into the West Alabama Hall of Fame (2018).

A native of Tuscaloosa, AL, Williams and his wife Sarah have two children, Aubrey (4) and Londyn (1).
