Brownlee holds a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Education from the University of West Georgia.

As a player, Brownlee played LB and special teams at Georgia Southern from 2004 - 2006 before transferring to the University of West Georgia for the 2007 season.

A native of Commerce, GA, Brownlee and his wife Megan have four children, Levi (12), Selah (10), Rebekah (7), and Jedidiah (1).
